Petite style guide: the best bottoms that actually fit! Ever tried on five pairs of trousers and jeans and none of them fit? Especially if you are a little bit curvier Petite, and not the skinny type? Because yes, Petite woman in fashion means a woman under 5’4 (164cm) and not someone skinny.
Proportions matter a lot more than size itself. Because the right proportions will make you visually look taller and you will feel confident and look great. During all of these years I have tried many bottoms from different bands like Asos, Boohoo, Pretty Little Things, Stradivarius and more. Some of the jeans, skirts and trousers did not fit even as Petite bottoms. However, some of them I wear over the years and they look like new.
Therefore, I wanted to put all my best bottoms from my closet in one post to help you find real Petite bottoms that actually fit. We wear a lot of pants, jeans, leggings and bottoms. Therefore, I wanted to share the best bottoms that actually fit short women- perfect for Fall and winter outfits.

Last but not least, the blog post includes affiliate marketing links. Shopping from them is free, but it helps me provide you with free content. Therefore, thank you for your help, and you are automatically in the Petite community! Now let’s look into the Petite bottoms that actually fit short women under 5’4/164cm.
What to look for in bottoms that actually fit Petites?
Firstly, look into the fit and make sure they fit perfectly for your body type. Secondly, choose bottoms with no pockets or smaller pockets for the best flattering look. Thirdly, measure your inseam because that will help you shop for the best bottoms for you. Last but not least, shop for high-waisted bottoms for the most flattering visual fit.
How to tell if bottoms will flatter your proportions? First, identify your body shape (hourglass, pear, apple, rectangle…) and then also look into the cut, rise, fabric and length of the pants. A good fit should fit your curves without sagging or squeezing.
High-rise styles will make your legs look miles long. However, cropped lengths is also a good cut for short women. Showing a little bit of skin will visually lengthen your legs.
Petite Jeans that actually Fit (and Flatter)
Stradivarius jeans if you are in Europe

My new discovery was Stradivarius jeans when I searched for a good, traditional skinny jeans. I will need new jeans in spring and I will definitely go for Stradivarius jeans. The brand has the right stretch, they are affordable while offering a great quality and they offer variety of Petite jeans. I love how the jeans fit right at the ankle- no hemming needed.
The best jean cuts for petite women are straight-leg cut, slim or skinny as well as bootcut.
Other Petite-friendly jeans brands I wish to try are Abercrombie Petite, Express Petite and Madewell Petite.
The best Petite trousers and work Pants

As I have talked a lot about the Petite trousers and wide-leg pants already on my Petite fashion blog, I will not talk about these a lot. However, check ASOS for great variety of trousers from different petite-friendly pants. I got mine from Asos, and the brand Miss Selfridge.
Trousers will be back in style in 2026, especially the wide-leg trousers and tailored trousers. All of them are flattering for Petite women if chosen correctly (but I also suggest the cropped style for an extra flattering look).
How to style wide-leg trousers? The best formula is a wide-leg trousers with a fitted top and heeled boots for instant height. However, for more style ideas, watch my YouTube style guide.
Lastly, other brands worth looking into are Sezane, Banana Republic Petite or Reformation.
Leggings that flatter Petite frames
The best leggings for Petite women are 7/8 or ankle-length leggings, and as always, waist rise. I suggest you look into brands like Lululemon, Aritzia and Girlfriend Collective. This is where you will need to know your inseam length- these brands have shorter inseams.
Spanx leather leggings

One of the best leggings for Fall and winter is leather leggings. Last year, I decided to invest in a good quality leather leggings from Spanx. If you follow my blog, you have already read my Spanx leather leggings review and know what I think about them.
Basic cotton leggings
The best basic cotton leggings that I have worn for years are from the Asos brand. They are warm, comfortable, come in a set and last for a long time. I always have basic leggings on hand- either I travel, hike or go for a sleepover. It is the best just-in-case clothing to have specially for colder season.
Fitness Leggings

Where are my active Petite women? For a few years, I have been reviewing and trying out different fitness and active wear leggings as a Petite woman. So far, my favourite leggings are from Fanka and Halara. Fanka reversible leggings are gorgeous- I recently got the second pair. And from Halara, I love the crossover side pocket leggings.
Skirts that elongate Petite legs
Skirt styles that flatter Petites are a-line, wrap style and high-slit styles. For winter style, wear the skirt with thick thighs and cute pointy toe booties. However, style the mini skirt with knee-high boots.
High-waisted mini skirts

I do not know how many miniskirts I have at home, because I have many. A mini skirt is the most flattering skirt for Petite women as it shows a little skin and that visually lengthens your legs. There are so many miniskirts to choose from- you can definitely find your favourite, but I will list the ones I own.
Satin midi skirt

As for midi skirts, I suggest the bodycon satin midi skirt to elongate your legs the best, and for a more luxurious, feminine and elegant look. I wear my midi satin skirt all year along for different occasions- museum visit, date night, to work, travel, etc. It is so much fun to style a satin skirt because the options are endless.
Long pleated skirt

I mention a long pleated skirt as the one I own is long (but a mini skirt is very flattering too). The pleat gives vertical detail that will help with your Petite frame. Therefore, the pleated skirt is a stunning piece to have and style all year round. Lastly, it is the skirt that can be styled in various ways (just like the Petite satin skirt).
