Do mainstream deodorants cause breast cancer?

Do mainstream deodorants cause breast cancer? I like and enjoy writing about beauty and fashion, write about style and give different reviews on products but I also know where our world is going. Let’s be honest- we do not have a bright future. Who is responsible for our world and our future? Only us! With my blog and platform, I also want to bring up important issues and awareness of different problems.

Today I wanted to research more on the topic of IF deodorants cause breast cancer and what ingredients are the ones that might cause cancer and problems to your health. What kind of deodorants you should reach for and where to find them?

No one cares about your health!

I remember that around five or more years ago when people started to investigate and care more about modifications in food, ingredients in toothpaste and makeup and global problems in general, I read about deodorants allegedly causing breast cancer.

That information hooked me up and as a holder of a bigger cup size, it got me worried. As you may know, women with bigger cup sizes have a larger possibility to have breast cancer. Women in general have more possibilities to have breast cancer than men– for the same reason.

Since that time I have only used deodorants without the dangerous ingredients in them. Now let’s think logically.

Skin is very thin “fibre” that absorbs a lot of things we put on it- creams, lotions, butters and deodorants! It all soaks in our skin cells and the question is- where it goes next and how it affects our body? We definitely want to make sure that we put the purest products on our body. Nowadays it is not like that! Everyone want to smell from head to toes like Chanel flowers even thought it is not natural to smell like that.

Skin in armpits is especially sensitive. Armpits are located very close to breasts, they are open for all kind of infections and bleeding as we are shaving them (usually), and then applying all kind of products on the skin, including deodorants. All the cheap or not so cheap deodorants you see commercials of on TV are filled with aluminium, parabenes, silicone, perfumes and I could go on and on an on. Imagine what happens if you apply aluminium every day or twice a day for years and years?! What else does deodorants? They close up pores and cells for you to not sweat, but that sweat needs to go somewhere!

Research

Firstly, I went on American cancer society website and decided that American page is not the right one to search answers on and the truth! Then I went on more pages which were at the end still American based and basically repeated the same text all over again. Let me tell you- if an article ends with sentence- if you have allergies, I would recommend to have botox injections- then I would not believe those articles. True story. These articles that are on top of the page of Google looks like a good “Copy-paste” product and I am not buying those.

Also with the technologies and science and knowledge that we have, people and scientists and their research centres still do not want to take responsibility for their words and cannot say- YES or NO! The article I read sounds like a weather report- it may rain but it may be sunny! Just so the people do not get angry in the case at the end it gets proven that deodorants do cause cancer.

These American articles say something like this: the studies have not proven that deodorants with aluminium cause breast cancer, but they are also not proven that they do not cause it! So aluminium allegedly does not cause breast cancer. What about parabens?

Article of American cancer society says:” Intake of parabens is a possible concern because studies have shown that parabens have weak estrogen-like properties. Estrogen is a female hormone known to cause breast cells (both normal and cancerous) to grow and divide. And some conditions that increase the body’s exposure to estrogen (like not having children, late menopause, obesity, etc.) have been linked to an increased risk of breast cancer.”

Now let’s think about all the makeup we use and put on our lips, eyes and face. Most of them have parabens inside, L’oreal lipsticks are well known for their parabens. Should that be allowed in lipsticks if scientists know about that?

What I really hate about this article is that they write results of studies and research (like the one about parabens). And then trying to debunk it and calm people by saying- do not worry, we do not know yet if parabens in the breast cancer was from that lipstick you used or not! If hundred people ate the same meat and one of them died, should we not stop eat that meat until we find out that it was nothing to do with the meat?! Or should we keep eating it because “we do not know”?!

“Parabens are widely used as preservatives in shampoo, lotions, other cosmetics, and even foods. This study did not contain any information to help find the source of the parabens found in the breast tissue – it’s not clear if they might have come from antiperspirants or from some other source.” Who cares if it came from my sandwich, shampoo or lipstick?! This sentence just proved that parabens are very bad and they are still allowed to be used in all kind of products and even food around us!

“Although at this time there are no clear health risks from parabens in food, drugs, cosmetics, and skin care products, people concerned about exposure to parabens can avoid products containing them. ” This sentence… basically- if you are worried you can die from the food and makeup just do not use it! Not our problem, we are only here researching without any point and reason! Just for fun doing research and spending all the money! That is how it sounds like.

Then the article ends with how the rumour started. By that question, the publication shows that we are all just teenagers spreading rumours, even though- they also cannot really debunk this rumour either!

Lornamead deo spray

  • No mineral oil, no silicone, no parabens, no alcohol
  • Made in Germany
  • With waterlilly
  • This deodorant is alcohol based. Can scent it very strongly. So probably if you have sensitive skin, it is not the best for you. After shaving I like alcohol based deodorants because it seems that the alcohol kind of prevents from infections. Smells like alcohol and flowers.
